Day two
Where to start... even thinking of our day on the water truck yesterday brings tears to my eyes today. Tears of sadness, of the devastating poverty we saw, we felt, we touched, we smelled... tears of love, for the Haitians, their smiles, their laughter, their community they have.
We were able to deliver water to three different areas of Cite Soleil, each one with children running up to our TapTap (vehicle we travel around in, see picture) yelling Hey You, Hey You! Children jumping into our arms the moment we touched the ground, the hoses starting the flow of water into the buckets lined up with women and children helping to keep the buckets moving forward. The task of getting these buckets to their homes was truly a humbling experience as we were able to help some of them carry the buckets of water with them, going in to some of the homes. Many of the women would have us help them set the buckets on their heads, and then they would be set off with the weight of this bucket of water on their heads.
Our pictures, and these words can not begin to describe this day. The last of these tears are for Jesus, and the love He has for the Haitians, and for all of us. It is an honor and a privilege to serve our Lord and Savior, and to be His hands and feet here in Haiti.
